Child and Adult Care Food Program
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) provides nutritional training, record keeping skills, and food reimbursement to childcare providers who serve meals to young children in their care. The program encourages healthy eating habits with nutritious foods including fresh fruits and vegetables, high quality protein, fresh dairy products, and whole grain and enriched breads and cereals. There is no cost to the parent for the meals and snacks served. Participants include children from birth to 12 years of age and certain disabled adults.
The Child and Adult Care Food Program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and, in the District of Columbia, is administered by the State Education Office. For more information on the CACFP, see your childcare provider.
